Attempting to make a skateboard as a child, Norwegian Hallgeir Homstvedt bent and shaped a piece of plywood—and an obsession was born. His Pal stool draws on that childhood epiphany. Its thin, curved wooden legs screw into the outside of the round seat through an X-shaped joint, making for strength and meaning assembly is child’s play (no tools are required). Its lightweight frame makes this thoroughly satisfying piece easily transportable from room to room.

After completing a BA in industrial design at Australia’s Newcastle University in 2006, Norwegian designer Hallgeir Homstvedt returned home to join the pioneer design studio Norway Says. Since 2009, he has been running his own studio, while also exhibiting in London, Tokyo, Milan and New York. Working in fields of furniture, interior and product design, Homstvedt makes products that are tactile, smart and perfectly proportioned.
