Kino Overview

Do Well with Nothing, Do Better with Little, and do it right now !
This is the motto for Kino, an organization, or even more so, an international movement of filmmakers that are producing and supporting each other to create movies quickly, with available resources, and to do it well.
It is also the origin of Kino Kabaret, an event where filmmakers show and prove themselves by forming ideas, writing scripts, filming, acting, editing, and screening movies in a 48 hour period – that’s 48 hours from start to finish; from forming the idea to actual screening.
Kino Groups have popped up all around the world since the challenge began in Montreal Canada in December 1998. Many will congregate in Montreal for the Kabaret d’Automme 2005 to produce 5 movies in 10 days – that’s 48 hours per movie. This corresponds with the Montreal Festival Nouveau Cinema also held October 13th to the 23rd.
And why would video service providers care about this… well, because the ability to create content, and the sources for it, are evolving as fast as the technologies for delivering it. Add KINO to your list of key words… CATV, Studios, Broadcaster, DSL, Fiber to the Home, VOD, IPVideo
